​Srinagar (VMS): Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday suspended Superintendent of Central Jail Srinagar and posted new Superintendent after the escapade of LeT militant from SMHS Hospital in which two cops were killed in a shootout. 

“Pending enquiry into the incident on 6 February, 2018, at SMHS Hospital, Srinagar, leading to the death of the two constables and escape of a militant, Hilal Ahmed Rather , Superintendent, Central Jail, Srinagar is hereby placed under suspension, with immediate effect,” a government order issued by Home Department’s Principal Secretary RK Goyal said.

"The services of Mukesh Kumar Kakar, Additional SP Police Component, Anantnag, are placed at the disposal of the Prisons Department with immediate effect. Consequent upon the the above, Mukesh Kumar Kakar is posted as Superintendent, Central Jail, Srinagar," government in an order issued by the Home Department's Principal Secretary R K Goyal. (VMS)

Pertinently, government issued suspension order of Hilal Ahmad Rather who was earlier Superintendent of Central Jail Sringar.

“The officer shall remain attached with Director General of Police, Prisons, till further order,” the order read.
