Jammu (VMS): Vigilance Organization, Jammu today caught red handed an official of Police Station Gharota, while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000/- from the complainant, in order to release his buffalo alongwith it’s calf, with reference to the court orders.
A complaint came to be lodged in the Vigilance Organization, Jammu by the complainant that he had purchased a buffalo alongwith a two day’s old calf for Rs. 60,000/- and was taking the animals to his home in a bolero pickup when he was stopped by some locals of the area and thereafter handed-over to officials of P/s Gharota who came on the spot.
He was taken to the police station alongwith the cattle and the vehicle where an FIR was registered against him. On 15.5.2018 the SHO P/s Gharota was directed by the court to release the animals in his favour and the said order was served in the police station but the concerned I.O of the case HC Sohan Lal refused to honour the court order and in turn demanded an amount of Rs. 10,000/- as bribe for releasing the animals.
The complainant was reluctant to pay the bribe amount but under the compelling circumstances he was going to pay Rs. 10,000/- to the I.O Head Constable Sohan Lal @ Sonu, but before that he approached the Vigilance organization for initiation of an appropriate legal action, a VoJ spokesman said Valley Media Service.
Acting swiftly, a formal case (FIR 10/2018) was registered at Police Station VOJ for investigation and after competing all the required legal formalities, the team of Vigilance laid a successful trap.(VMS)
